The Australian Open quarter-finals begin amid a heatwave that has forced the tournament to adjust its schedule and will almost certainly trigger the extreme heat protocol.
The match of the day, between home favourite Alex de Minaur and top seed Carlos Alcaraz, will be played late at night and under the roof of the Rod Laver Arena as the tournament prepares for temperatures of up to 46C.

Aryna Sabalenka continues her bid to regain her Australian Open crown against rising 18-year-old star Iva Jovic, while the match between third seed Alexander Zverev and Learner Tien is likely to fall under the hottest part of the afternoon.
The opening match of the night session is another cracker, as third seed Coco Gauff battles Elina Svitolina, after the Ukrainian star produced a clinical performance to knock out Mirra Andreeva in the fourth round.
