New Orleans is easily one of my favorite places to visit. On a recent trip I stopped into Sucré, a bakery my parents had told me about (the rest of my family also loves New Orleans). There was a beautiful case of glittery, elegant pastries, cupcakes, and macarons. I split a box of macarons with a friend, and they were truly some of the best I’ve ever had (on par with the ones I’ve had in Europe).
What You Should Know About Sucré’s Mardi Gras Macarons + King Cake Combo
Sucré started in New Orleans and now boasts eight locations across the city, as well as Georgia and Texas. But if you don’t happen to find yourself near any of their bakeries, you can hop over to Goldbelly and get some of the goodies shipped straight to you, including the king cake.
Both the king cake and the Mardi Gras macarons are sold separately on Goldbelly, but I’m a more-dessert-is-better kind of person. Not to mention, you’ll save $26 when you buy the combo pack.
If you’ve never had king cake before, it’s sort of like a cakey cinnamon roll made into one big, braided ring. Sucré’s is stuffed with whipped cream cheese and has swirls of cinnamon sugar. It’s finished with a layer of white icing and a sprinkling of purple, green, and gold edible glitter. Umm, yes, please!
As for the macarons, there are 15 included in this combo pack in three flavors: king cake, vanilla, and salted caramel. The bakery’s macarons were so good when I had them a couple of months ago — I can’t wait to have them again. I might even keep the entire box to myself!
