Picture this: You’ve just made homemade smash burgers in your cast iron pan, and they’re a smash hit (sorry, I had to). But now comes the dreaded portion of the evening: cleaning the cast iron. Even with some elbow grease, it feels nearly impossible to get the little chunks of who-knows-what off the pan’s surface without damaging it. And not to mention, there are so many things to avoid while cleaning cast iron.
The price was super reasonable — just $6 for a set of 3 ($2 per scraper!) — so I went for it. And after a few weeks of using one on my griddle and cast iron pans, I was officially sold.
The scraper easily gets things off almost any surface (the Pampered Chef website says they can be used in tubs and showers, too!), but I recommend designating one per specific area of use. The scraper itself has a fairly simple design. It’s constructed of light blue plastic with edges and corners that are ideal for, well, scraping. It also has a comfy little thumb indent with the Pampered Chef logo across the front.
Unlike a sponge that usually smears food around, the scraper lifts caked-on food without ripping your hard-earned seasoning off. I usually use it when the pan is still a little warm but not hot.
And because these scrapers are inexpensive, I don’t feel scared to really use them to get off all that gunky grime. Plus, I appreciate the convenient size! They take up next to no space, so you can easily store the handheld tool virtually anywhere (which is a big selling point in my small kitchen).
And when you’re done cleaning your cast iron, the scrubber can safely go into your dishwasher. (I love it when things don’t have to be hand-washed because, deep down, I am lazy). I’ve only just scratched the surface (ha!) of all of the ways it can be used in the kitchen and all around the home, and I couldn’t recommend these little pan scrapers more highly.
