I can’t contain my excitement about the release of The Devil Wears Prada 2. As a big fan of The Devil Wears Prada (which came out 20 years ago!), I have been so ready for the sequel to come out on May 1.
One actress whom I was first introduced to in the original film has become one of my favorite celebrities over the years: Emily Blunt. And I’m not alone in that, either. Jennifer Garner (another fave of mine) recently appeared on the Dish Podcast, where she raved about Emily Blunt’s mother’s potato recipe that’s in Ina Garten’s cookbook. The Kitchn actually covered this recipe back in 2022, but because it’s been a few years I had to see if they still lived up to the hype.
What Makes Emily Blunt’s Potatoes So Amazing
After declaring that all potatoes are her friend in the podcast clip, Garner specified that she makes Emily Blunt’s mother’s potato recipe from Ina Garten’s book Modern Comfort Food. She says it’s her family’s “favorite” potato and “as many as I make get eaten.”
This roast potato recipe is definitely a labor of love and not a hands-off cooking method. But just like so many things in life, the sacrifice is worth it. These potatoes have a crispy, crunchy exterior, but a silky, tender inside. That contrast between the textures is everything. In just one small bite, you get crunch and cream.
Sprinkling them in coarse sea salt at the end also perfectly seasons them, so they are nice and salty. If you want to spice things up a little more, try using rosemary as well. Garner admitted to adding some rosemary to her potatoes when she makes the recipe.
After trying the potatoes out for myself recently, I can say with confidence that this recipe is as good as Garner says it is. In fact, I’m inspired to make a weekly Sunday roast just so I can have these potatoes!
