You know that awkwardly heavy or hard-to-grip piece of furniture in your home? When’s the last time you cleaned under it?
For me, I can’t remember the last time I got underneath my dresser. Every time I try to move it, all the drawers fall onto me. As for my fridge or oven? Moving those myself is definitely not an option. Sure, I could ask for help, but I’m the type of person that likes to tackle problems by myself.
But scrolling on Instagram the other day, I came across a hack that could be the perfect solution for cleaning for the hard-to-reach dust, dirt, and grime.
You don’t need much: just two kitchen sponges and a large knife. I definitely have those lying around, and I bet you do, too. Essentially, you’re creating a gap cleaning tool by skewering the sponges onto the knife. Of course, the video makes it seem really easy.
A couple of people weighed in, commenting that a Swiffer would be easier. But if this hack works, I say, why buy another product when you can just use what you’ve got lying around the house? It could even be a good way to give your old kitchen sponges a second life after the scouring pad loses its scrubbing power.
One person in the comments seemed to agree, “I hate a million cleaning tools. This is great, thank you.” The Instagram account that posted it, @dailyoriginalvids, even responded to a comment saying, “We don’t have a storage closet that holds a Swiffer so we try and use small items we have.”
If you finally want to get to those hard-to-reach places without moving your furniture or appliances, but have limited cleaning storage space (or don’t want to buy anything new), this cleaning hack may be for you.
