At the Margaret Howell store a stone’s throw from the Église de la Madeleine, the current selection of menswear and womenswear had been swapped for the upcoming fall collection, where the eye was instantly drawn to a crisp olive green “railway” mac lined with wool herringbone hanging near the entrance. Yet the real action was taking place further inside, where we encountered Eva, who was in the midst of sewing the collar stand of a cotton shirt in blue with pale stripes. Who needs background music when there’s the ambient and functional thrum of a sewing machine?Eva is the manager…

Crowning the EasySMX S10 the best Switch 2 controller last fall was easy. The $60 wireless gamepad, which is often well below $50, mimics or improves on many of the $90 Switch 2 Pro controller’s best features. The S10 has great-feeling rumble in games, TMR joysticks that will last longer than Nintendo’s, plus amiibo support, comfortable grips, and buttons and triggers that offer satisfying clicks. The new S10 Lite trims away some of those, but builds on EasySMX’s lead with one big, new feature that I expect other companies to copy. The EasySMX S10 Lite is the first third-party controller to…

To house the hundreds or thousands of temporary workers needed to build an AI data center, developers are increasingly relying on temporary villages known as man camps. This style of camp was popularized as housing for men working in remote oil fields. For example, as a Bitcoin mining facility in rural Dickens County, Texas is converted into a 1.6 gigawatt data center, Bloomberg reports its workers are living in gray housing units with access to a gym, a laundromat, game rooms, and a cafeteria that grills steaks on-demand. A company called Target Hospitality has signed multiple contracts worth a total…

Fashion Month is concluding with the fall 2026 shows in Paris this week, and while the runways are all about delivering a high-fashion fantasy, A-listers on the front row are taking a slightly more low-key approach to dressing. This week, the best dressed stars nailed the art of casual elegance—choosing dressed-down looks, yet still with a bold POV. Think: a fancy coat paired with jeans, or a sleek suit trouser paired with a nonchalant bra top.Take Olivia Rodrigo at the Chloé show, for example: the singer showed up in one of the label’s sweet, lace-trimmed slip dresses. She made the…

Do you remember a couple of years back when Disney CEO Bob Chapek stepped in over Florida’s “Don’t Say Gay” bill? Now it’s time for Pixar to put its foot in its mouth, and just as it’s got a new (and apparently pretty good) movie in Hoppers playing in theaters. Longtime studio alum Pete Docter spoke to the Wall Street Journal recently about a number of things, including some recent duds like Elio and Lightyear. The former had an LGBTQ storyline cut that many who worked on it argued made for a better and more complete movie than what hit theaters in 2025. According to…
