Epic Games’ courtroom battle with Google is over, but it’s reportedly going to affect how its CEO can speak about the tech giant for years for years to come. According to The Verge, part of the settlement terms Epic had signed has a clause stating that Epic and Sweeney will have to speak positively about Google’s competitiveness and app store operations going forward. “Epic believes that the Google and Android platform, with the changes in this term sheet, are procompetitive and a model for app store / platform operations, and will make good faith efforts to advocate for the same,”…

One of the biggest issues with mainline Pokémon games is that you’re often so focused on catching, battling and trying to be the very best that you don’t have time to stop and smell the flowers. But in Pokémon Pokopia, you’re rewarded for doing just that while building a loving community of friendly monsters. The game is one part Animal Crossing and one part Dragon Quest Builders sprinkled with a touch of Minecraft and Stardew Valley. he result might be one of the coziest, most wholesome life sims on the market.Setup and gameplayIn Pokopia, you play as a Ditto, who…

I’ve spent the past few days asking AI companies to convince me that the prospects for AI safety have not dimmed. Just a few years ago, it seemed that there was universal agreement among companies, legislators, and the general public that serious regulation and oversight of AI was not just necessary, but inevitable. People speculated about international bodies setting rules to insure that AI would be treated more seriously than other emerging technologies, and that could at least provide obstacles to its most dangerous implementations. Corporations vowed to prioritize safety over competition and profits. While doomers still spun dystopic scenarios,…

If you want more storage space, Amazon and Walmart are also both selling the 11-inch model with 256GB and Wi-Fi for $649 ($50 off). The US Customs and Border Protection says it currently can’t comply with an order to process billions of dollars in refunds stemming from tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump. In a filing on Friday, CBP executive director Brandon Lord says the agency’s digital import processing system is “not well suited to a task of this scale,” as reported earlier by CNBC.The CBP’s admission comes after the Supreme Court struck down the tariffs imposed by Trump under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) last month. This week, the International Trade Court ruled that importers impacted by the tariffs are entitled…
Less than 300 days after tearing his right Achilles tendon in last year’s playoffs, Jayson Tatum returned to the court for the Boston Celtics on Friday. It went better than anyone could’ve possibly hoped. In 27 minutes, Tatum nearly put up a triple-double with 15 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists as a plus-20 in a 120-100 win over the Mavericks. Remarkable. There is no way even the most optimistic Tatum fan saw this kind of performance coming. The TD Garden crowd went wild when Tatum recorded his first bucket on a put-back dunk late in the first half. He followed…
