The allure of Japanese skincare—which pairs heritage ingredients with modern science—extends far beyond its bestselling formulas. It’s how the philosophy makes a ritual out of caring for your skin; of which the double moisture method is central. And no, it’s not simply layering two of your favorite moisturizers for extra hydration.“Double moisturizing reflects one of the most essential principles of Japanese beauty traditions,” J-beauty expert and licensed esthetician Kyoko Getz tells Vogue. “Hydration is not a single step, it’s a ritual of layering with intention, discipline, and respect for the skin’s natural structure.” In Japan, she explains, a healthy complexion…

Retail investors are famously locked out of the startup world. Robinhood is attempting to change that by allowing the general public to invest in a portfolio of what it calls “some of the most exciting private companies operating today.” To do this, the company that pioneered the commission-free brokerage model has secured access to eight startups—including Databricks, Stripe, Mercor, and Oura—grouping them into a vehicle called Robinhood Ventures Fund I. The fund, which also includes Ramp, Airwallex, Revolut, and Boom, set out last month with an ambitious $1 billion target, but demand for this novel way of investing in private…

It’s difficult to describe the U.S. economy in black and white terms like “good” or “bad.” On several fronts, the data says the economy is healthy. But surveys show American consumers don’t feel that way.”There’s no doubt right now that different data can show slightly different narratives,” says Heather Long, chief economist at Navy Federal Credit Union.Depending on which measure you look at, inflation is falling or staying flat in recent months, Long points out. The consumer price index has dropped from its 9% peak in June 2022 and hovered around 3% since June 2023, according to U.S. Bureau of…

AI is incredibly thirsty. The data centers that run these models already use massive amounts of water, and by 2030, those in the U.S. could require enough additional water capacity to rival New York City’s daily supply. That’s according to a new study led by Shaolei Ren, an associate professor of electrical and computer engineering at the University of California, Riverside. The findings—which have not yet been peer reviewed but are publicly available on the preprint server arXiv—show that limited public water capacity is emerging as a critical bottleneck to data center growth. Samsung caught flak for the Galaxy Buds 3. “I like when fashion creates that little moment of intrigue,” says Osaka of her court style. Photo: Sebastian Arriagada / CCG Social“One of the first things I wanted was a functional ear cuff that could hold my earbuds during warmups, but still feel cool,” says Osaka of how the collaboration began. “That piece became a little anchor for the collection.” For Habana, outfitting an athlete proved to be an exciting new challenge, given he is more so used to outfitting stars for the musical stage or the runway. There is so much to love about Dell’s new XPS 14, it’s hard for me to discuss it without sounding like a total fanboy. Its new design makes it incredibly thin and light. And Intel’s Panther Lake chips give it a ton of power, even when it comes to games. After reviving the XPS brand from last year’s ignominious rebranding, it’s as if Dell was laser-focused on fixing all the issues we’ve had with the XPS 14 so far.Unfortunately, a shallow, unresponsive and hilariously error-prone keyboard kept me from truly loving the XPS 14. Simply put, it has trouble recognizing…
