One of the most innocent things in the world—a dog’s lick—may have had incredibly tragic consequences for 56-year-old UK resident Manjit Sangha. Doctors believe she possibly contracted a nearly fatal infection from her pet dog, one that led to a quadruple amputation. The BBC reported on the unusual case over the weekend. Sangha developed a severe and rapidly progressing bout of sepsis last summer that left her in a coma. Though she did lose her limbs and spleen, she remarkably survived the ordeal and is hopeful about her recovery. “I want to get walking,” Sangha told the BBC. “I want…

If you watched WWE during the Daniel Bryan era, you’ll remember the 30-day rule — the idea that a champion has to defend their title within that period or risk forfeiting the gold. The rule wasn’t always applied in practice, but it did at least speak to a legitimate concept in pro-wrestling: That champions shouldn’t be allowed to rest on their laurels.I was thinking about the 30-day rule this past week when I was weighing upon one of the biggest mysteries on “SmackDown.” No, not the contents of that ridiculous crate, but the question of how Nick Aldis — usually…

Anthropic is accusing three Chinese AI companies of setting up more than 24,000 fake accounts with its Claude AI model to improve their own models. The labs — DeepSeek, Moonshot AI, and MiniMax — allegedly generated more than 16 million exchanges with Claude through those accounts using a technique called “distillation.” Anthropic said the labs “targeted Claude’s most differentiated capabilities: agentic reasoning, tool use, and coding.” The accusations come amid debates over how strictly to enforce export controls on advanced AI chips, a policy aimed at curbing China’s AI development.  Distillation is a common training method that AI labs use…

Slow starts have hindered Scottie Scheffler early in the 2026 PGA Tour season. You know it. He knows it. The whole golf world knows it. Of course, “slow” and “hindered” are relative when it comes to what the world No. 1 is capable of accomplishing. Scheffler looked like a mid-handicapper for 50% of the Genesis Invitational yet still finished T12 alongside Jordan Spieth, a player who completed his best tournament finish since June 2025. This is not a drive-by on Spieth; it is an illustration that Scheffler’s performances are all about perspective.Scheffler went to bed Thursday evening without another name below…

After 19 years, I finally went back to Ko Lipe, the Thai island I spent close to a month on in 2006. Back then, it was one of those super off-the-beaten-path destinations that few but the most intrepid travelers visited, where electricity only ran a few hours a day, basic bungalows right on the beach cost something like $2 USD, and there really was a last boat for the season. There was much to do here but that was the point. You hung out on the beach, read a book, went snorkeling, went back to the beach, drank beers at…
