“It sounds nice,” my husband said over FaceTime. “Let me see?”I’d been dreading this moment since the second our taxi rolled up to the property. It was one thing to take my daughter on a vacation of her own while her father and brother spent spring break at a debate tournament in eastern Pennsylvania. But the trip had come together in a flurry, and while I knew there was no question who would end up winning the boys vs. girls vacation challenge, I hadn’t realized the margin would be quite so obscene. The view from the balcony of my private treehouse…

Hot on the heels of her Baggu collaboration, Sandy Liang presented her resort collection, which, though out later this year, makes for an intriguing rejoinder.Among the standouts were new versions of her beloved satin jacket-and-skirt sets, including two spirited new colorways, baby blue satin and a lustrous brown. “I love the pre-season collections because they’re more like… I don’t have to think about what things will look like on a runway—I just think about what I would want to wear,” said the designer. That includes some fun new long johns in playful prints and hues, which can be easily mixed…
“The biggest adventure you can take is to live the life of your dreams.” ~Oprah Winfrey My father died at forty-nine. I was young when it happened, still soft in the way grief makes you when you are not yet equipped to hold it. I was so consumed by the loss itself that I never stopped to do the mathematics of it. Forty-nine years. That is all he got. Forty-nine years to do everything he wanted to do, to become everything he wanted to become, and to say every word he still had left inside him. I did not let…

With an Oscar, a BAFTA, two Golden Globes, and two Critics’ Choice Awards to her name, Natalie Portman has secured her position at the apex of her industry via everything from Closer and Black Swan to Jackie and May December. But before all that, she was a 12-year-old hopeful growing up in Long Island, having moved to the United States with her parents at age three after being born in Jerusalem. Keen on the performing arts, she auditioned for the lead of the 1992 off-Broadway musical Ruthless!. In the end, Jumanji’s Laura Bell Bundy ended up snagging that part—but Portman,…
Oil prices fell Tuesday as President Donald Trump sought to convince the market that a deal with Tehran was days away, despite the barrage of strikes between Israel and Iran this week. U.S. crude oil futures were down about 2% to $89.40 by 8:05 a.m. ET. Brent futures, the international benchmark, lost 1.7% to $92.65 per barrel. Trump told reporters late Monday that a deal to end the war with Iran could come in “two or three days” and the Strait of Hormuz would open “immediately” after an agreement. He has repeatedly said a deal with Tehran to reopen Hormuz…
Alexandra O’Neill is one of those designers who knows her customer so well because she’s one herself. After all, she’s one of her brand’s best and biggest ambassadors, often spotted working the society circuit donning something from her own collection. Her resort outing was inspired by her recent honeymoon in Jackson Hole—in fact, she had returned from it mere hours before hosting her appointments. “I was inspired by this Western aesthetic. I kind of went back to my roots in Colorado, but wanted to give it a bit more of an elevated touch,” she explained. The result includes fun and…
