Since I saw the TCL X11L SQD-Mini LED TV at a pre-CES event in December, I’ve been eager to get a close look at it in my living room. At first glance, the TV impressed me enough that I named it the best TV of CES 2026.From the moment I completed Google TV setup and started watching the TCL X11L I was amazed. I could immediately tell it’s the brightest TV I’ve had in my home, but it was the color vibrancy that I found most impressive. The colors we’re all most familiar with — skin tones, the sky, green…
Feb. 27 (UPI) — After last week’s convoluted detour overseas, the Road to the Kentucky Derby returns home this weekend with big races in Arkansas, Florida and New York.Gulfstream Park has a clutch of big turf races on tap and Oaklawn Park’s rich stakes program shifts into another gear.AdvertisementOn the global scene, it’s Super Saturday in Dubai — think Romantic Warrior, Heart of Honor and Tuz — and Hong Kong has the middle legs of both its Triple Crown series and Hong Kong Derby series on the same Sunday program. The road to the roses Commandment, shown winning the Mucho Macho…
The MacBook is coming back — or at least, that’s what the rumors claim. Next week, Apple is expected to announce a colorful, low-cost, non-Air, non-Pro MacBook powered by one of its mobile processors. By avoiding its pricier M-series chips, Apple may reportedly be able to reach a low $699 or $799 price for the MacBook. The $999 MacBook Air is the cheapest laptop on the company’s website right now, but Apple also sold the older M1 MacBook Air at Walmart for $700 in 2024, which later went down to $650 last year. That Walmart deal was a smart way for…
Anthropic is heading into Friday in a no-win situation. The artificial intelligence startup has until 5:01 p.m. ET to decide whether it will agree to allow the Department of Defense to use its models in all lawful use cases without limitation. If it doesn’t, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has threatened to label the company a “supply chain risk” or force it to comply by invoking the Defense Production Act.Anthropic signed a $200 million contract with the DoD in July, and was the first AI lab to integrate its models into mission workflows on classified networks. The company has been negotiating…
Think of this as a modern spin on the old Hollywood blonde. It has more neutral undertones and a soft root. “Great for the girl who wants to be bright blonde, but doesn’t want a hellish grow-out,” says Emaly Baum, celebrity colorist and founder of Beauty Supply salon. “It’s bright and sparkly—heavy on the sparkle.”Kadi Lee, celebrity colorist and co-founder of Highbrow Hippie, agrees and says that the creamy and neutral blondes that dominated the winter season will evolve into something “buttery” and “vanilla.”“I recently executed a subtle shift of this nature for the most iconic of blondes, Gwyneth Paltrow,…
After years of appeals, Google has finally received conditional approval to export high-precision geographic information out of South Korea, a move that opens the door to let the company provide proper Google Maps services in the country, such as walking and real-time driving directions. The move reverses a long-standing policy on data restrictions that had essentially made Google Maps and Apple Maps non-functional in the country. Google has so far provided maps services in South Korea using high-resolution, 1:5,000 scale map data, but without the ability to export that data to its servers, the company couldn’t offer features like turn-by-turn…
LSU has long held the belt as “Wide Receiver U,” but Ohio State has been making a push in recent years to take it away from them. The Buckeyes have produced several high-profile wideouts, including Jaxon Smith-Njigba, who just helped lead the Seattle Seahawks to a Super Bowl LX title after leading the NFL in receiving yards during the regular season. Ohio State has also ushered in the likes of Garrett Wilson, Chris Olave, Terry McLaurin, Marvin Harrison Jr. and Emeka Egbuka into the NFL over the last few years. Could Carnell Tate be the latest OSU pass catcher to take the…
The tranche of Jeffrey Epstein emails and files released on January 30th tie the infamous pedophile, sex trafficker, and influence peddler to elite figures across the tech industry. The world of cryptocurrency is no exception. Epstein’s connections are intriguing, disturbing — and worth mapping closely. With his interest first piqued as early as 2011, Epstein was ahead of the game on crypto. The financier understood it as a tool for clandestine payments and shady international finance, and found prominent community members more than willing to welcome him. Bitcoin wasn’t even invented until 2009, which means all of Epstein’s crypto connections formed…
You can’t just remake Faces of Death in the traditional sense. The 1978 original lurched out of the shadows at the tail end of the mondo film craze and was presented to audiences as a series of authentic clips depicting gruesome footage of real human and animal deaths. Of course, those claims were later debunked, but a seedy, forbidden quality lingers even decades later. Can the new Faces of Death movie hope to capture that same sick feeling? Should it even try? The first full trailer for the film, directed by Daniel Goldhaber and written by Goldhaber and Isa Mazzei…
