Following the success of TikTok and Instagram Reels, Disney announced that it’s bringing short-form video content to Disney+ in the U.S. this year in a bid to boost daily engagement. Disney made the announcement at its Tech + Data Showcase event at CES 2026. The company said in the blog post that the experience “will evolve as it expands across news and entertainment and delivers a more personalized, dynamic experience that reinforces Disney+ as a must-visit daily destination.” Disney told Deadline that the videos could include original short-form content, repurposed social clips, scenes from TV shows or movies, or a combination.…
The storyline of Oregon facing a Miami team led by former coach Mario Cristobal in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game would have been juicy, but it wasn’t meant to be. No. 1 seed Indiana demolished the No. 5 seed Ducks 56-22 in Friday night’s Peach Bowl, sending Oregon’s second consecutive 13-win season to an abrasive end. While the 2025 campaign brought the Ducks’ second straight CFP appearance and third straight 12+ win season under fourth-year coach Dan Lanning, it also lacked substance. Oregon’s 11-1 regular season featured just one win against a team that finished in the final CFP…
You might think it’s pretty weird to hear the founders of a VR company and a social media platform publicly complaining about how things used to be better back in the dial-up days. Nevertheless, that is what happened at CES on Wednesday, when Oculus creator Palmer Luckey and Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian gave a joint talk about the joys of “tech nostalgia.” Luckey, who initially made his fortune in VR and now runs the defense contractor Anduril, and Ohanian both seemed to agree: Stuff was better in the old days. The catch, however, is that Luckey and Ohanian weren’t really…
Mortgage rates fell sharply on Friday, a day after President Donald Trump said on social media that he is instructing mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to buy $200 billion in mortgage bonds. “This will drive Mortgage Rates DOWN, monthly payments DOWN, and make the cost of owning a home more affordable,” he said in the Truth Social post. The rate on a 30-year mortgage dropped 22 basis points to 5.99%, matching the low from Feb. 2, 2023, according to Mortgage News Daily. Fannie Mae and Freddie, which are in government conservatorship, do not originate home loans. They buy loans…
Yorgos Lanthimos‘ Bugonia is a remake of Save the Green Planet!, though in many ways it’s far less out there than the 2003 South Korean original. And while the basic premise—a conspiracy theorist kidnaps a powerful executive he believes to be an alien planning to destroy Earth—is the same in both films, the nuances of what a conspiracy theorist looks and acts like have been tweaked to serve an America, circa 2025, version of that story. In a new interview with Deadline, Bugonia screenwriter Will Tracy keyed in on the character of Teddy, played with just the right jittery, damaged…

Dust off your cloak: Traitors UK is back, warming our dry January cockles. The civilian edition barrels onto screens hot on the heels of the worst traitor of all time, Alan Carr, winning the celebrity death match in December, and sees a myriad of “you’d make a great traitor, actually,” contestants vying to sniff out the Claudia Winkleman-appointed ones. Traitors holds a particular space in our collective psyche, it being at once a delectable and somehow heart-warming show where people stab their best mates in the back. Why does it feel so good to see so many innocent British citizens…
Amazon is making a return, of sorts, to physical retail via plans to build a big-box retail store in the Chicago suburbs, The Information reports. The 225,000-square foot retail space will open in Orland Park, Illinois, and give the company the opportunity to sell more than just groceries after it closed most of its physical bookstores and gift shops in 2022.The new store will offer in-store shopping, but also act as a fulfillment center for online orders, which could make it similar to competitors like Target and Walmart, and some of Amazon’s existing Whole Foods and Amazon Fresh locations. “The…
LSU’s been busy in the transfer portal, and it’s been hard for me to keep up with all the additions. Since we last talked, the Tigers have added eight more players to their portal haul, and they’re not done yet. Let’s do a quick rundown of who Lane Kiffin and company have gotten into the transfer class.January 8The Tigers stocked up on both sides of the line of scrimmage Thursday. Defensively LSU poached two players from within the SEC, whereas the Tigers dipped down into the lower levels for a couple of offensive additions.AdvertisementThe run on Thursday started with adding…
