NASA is seeking proposals for a new system to help spot and identify drones that may be flying over the Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Cape Canaveral, Florida. Nikola Jokić’s hyperextended knee all but eliminated him from the MVP race. That would be true in any rational world. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was neck-and-neck with him already. If two players are reasonably close but one misses a month or more due to injury, the other would and should win. We really didn’t need a rule to tell us that. And yet we have one. In 2023, the NBA instituted a 65-game minimum to qualify for major, end-of-season awards. While Jokić’s injury almost certainly would have eliminated him from contention anyway, the fact that it’s projected to take him essentially just beyond…

Over the last several years, fusion power has gone from the butt of jokes — always a decade away! — to an increasingly tangible and tantalizing technology that has drawn investors off the sidelines. The technology may be challenging to master and expensive to build today, but fusion promises to harness the nuclear reaction that powers the sun to generate nearly limitless energy here on Earth. If startups are able to complete commercially viable fusion power plants, then they have the potential to upend trillion-dollar markets. In the spirit of transparency, you should know that I, personally, am not tired of orange wine. In fact, I’ll probably enjoy a splash of it after writing this. But in recent chatter with fellow wine folk (sommeliers, wine journalists, so on), it’s become clear that a fatigue toward skin-fermented styles is sprouting in cities like Paris, New York City, and Los Angeles. Speculating why anything happens in the wine industry these days seems like a futile undertaking, but if I had to guess, it might be a couple of things.First, the proliferation of natural wine and its evangelical cadre…

My alarm is set for 6AM three days a week in the ambitious hope that I’ll make it to a 6:30AM yoga class. In the winter, it is midnight-dark at that hour and the only reason I occasionally find myself doing an early morning vinyasa is the sunrise alarm clock feature in the Hatch Restore 3. I schedule mine to start filling the room with a gradually brightening glow about 20 minutes before the sounds of singing bowls start playing. The light helps my brain wake up before I do and the subtle bongs of the bowl sort of seep…

Chances are that if a VPN is marketed to everyday users, it more or less runs itself. As long as you go with one of the best VPNs instead of setting up your own manual connection, the interface is likely built so you have to engage with it as little as possible. Generally, if you find yourself constantly thinking about your VPN while using it — as happened to me with Norton VPN — that's a bad thing and you should change providers. That said, it's still useful to get a high-level view of how to use a VPN, especially if…

I will admit to being afraid of scales—the kind that weigh you, not the ones on a snake. And so my first reaction to the idea I’d be getting a free body-scanning scale with a Factor prepared meal kit subscription was something akin to “Oh no!”It’s always bad or shameful news, I figured, and maybe nothing I don’t already know. Though, as it turned out, I was wrong on both points.Factor is, of course, the prepared meal brand from meal kit giant HelloFresh, which I’ve tested while reviewing dozens of meal kits this past year. Think delivery TV dinners, but…
