Caleb Banks ran the 40-yard dash, participated in the vertical jump and did the broad, too. The former Florida defensive tackle turned in a partial workout last month at the NFL combine, reportedly not knowing he had suffered a broken foot the night before his on-field testing.
Banks, a potential first-round pick, will now be sidelined until June, according to The Athletic’s Dane Brugler, who reported Thursday that the 6-foot-6, 327-pound DT had surgery to repair the fracture of his fourth metatarsal on Monday.
Yahoo Sports had the Minnesota Vikings taking Banks 24th overall in its latest mock draft, a move that would only be possible in Minnesota trades with Cleveland to move back in the order.

A quick scouting report from Yahoo’s Charles McDonald:
“After flipping down with the Browns, the Vikings take a big swing at defensive tackle with Banks. He isn’t a finished product, but he’s a lot more polished than most designated projects and was incredibly disruptive in the three games he played this season. His movement skills and footwork are incredibly rare at 6-foot-6, 330, but he struggles to finish plays off the penetration he creates. Brian Flores would be a great coach to land with in regards to fixing that and the Vikings would have the chance for the elite interior talent this defense has been missing.”
