With just two weeks left in the girls’ basketball regular season, area teams are looking for a strong finish as they prepare to make a run in the state tournament.
Several teams in the area have had good seasons and high moments throughout the 2025-26 season. Greensburg stands at the top at this stage. The Lady Pirates reached the No. 1 ranking in the ICDSA Class 3A girls basketball poll prior to this week’s 66-51 loss to No. 6 Roncalli.

The Lady Pirates (14-6) will be the heavy favorite to bring home the trophy from Sectional 29 hosted by Franklin County. Greensburg is 3-0 against other sectional opponents with wins against Jennings County, Franklin County and South Dearborn.
Two of Greensburg’s last four games are against teams from Sectional 29.
Batesville has had a good year, going 11-9 heading into Saturday’s game at Indian Creek. The Lady Bulldogs get to see possible sectional opponent Greensburg in the final game of the regular season.
Rushville has had an off season, but the Lady Lions (2-17) have played better in recent games. Rushville knocked off Franklin County, had a lead heading to the fourth quarter against 17-2 East Central and led after three quarters at 10-7 Shelbyville.

The Lady Lions are in Sectional 28 and get to host the sectional which includes sectional favorite No. 6 Roncalli.
Sectional 59 will be played at Waldron. Both North Decatur and South Decatur will compete in this sectional and both teams are currently 8-11 on the season.
The Lady Chargers sit atop the Mid-Hoosier Conference at 5-0. Hauser is the only team standing in the way of the Lady Chargers claiming an outright MHC title.
North is 7-1 against sectional foes.
South is coming off a heart-breaking loss at Knightstown where the Lady Panthers won 50-49 on a 3-pointer at the buzzer. The Lady Cougars bounced back to knock off Waldron 39-29. With home wins against Edinburgh, Trinity Lutheran and a road win at Brown County, the Lady Cougars would end the regular season at .500.

The Lady Cougars are 3-4 against sectional opponents.
The IHSAA will announce the tournament pairing at 6 p.m. Jan. 25. The draw is streamed exclusively on IHSAAtv.org.
The sectional runs Feb. 3, 4, 6 and 7. The regional is scheduled for Feb. 14 with the semistate round Feb. 21 and the state finals Feb. 28.
