I love my kitchen, but the cluttered interiors of my kitchen cabinets are a source of great shame. I hide them when we have guests and despise them in private. Like many, I work quickly when I cook, and like to have everything within arm’s reach, easily grabbable. But the clanging and banging as I sift clumsily through my lower cabinets in search of the right lid is getting very old — and, of course, always scares my dog.
I decided it was time for a cabinet makeover. My dream cabinets have gorgeous sliding shelves that noiselessly glide out and present my cooking options in an organized fashion. But after pricing said shelves, along with their installation, I decided to call in the pros for a more affordable solution.
4 Storage Gems the Pro Organizer Suggested for My Chaotic Kitchen Cabinets
Next, I slogged through the not-so-simple DIY task of installing shelf liners. (Turns out, I should have followed this easy tutorial!). Still, somehow, it got done.
Finally, I got to put my new organizing toys from Wayfair to the test. Thanks to Godding, I now know what a “blind cabinet” is and that I have two of them on either side of my sink. They’re tall, awkward, and deep in all the wrong ways, and my belongings were literally breaking as I stacked cookie sheets on top of glass pedestal cake plates.
Something practical like these expandable shelves had never occurred to me, but she pointed out that they could help to safely organize my various items while conserving space. What a revelation!
Of course, this is just the beginning of my cabinet clutter journey. I have yet to tackle the food storage containers, appliance closet, and the giant tangle of cleaning supplies under my sink, but much of my organizing problem has been remedied. And even with a few tasks remaining, I’m happy to say that I am living my best life with my new, beautifully organized cabinets. All praise goes to Godding, because I have just the kitchen I need (for now!).
