Even though I love to bake from scratch, sometimes I just want fresh-baked goods without the heavy lift. That’s when I lean on my beloved boxed mixes. And recently I’ve discovered one that adds some pizzazz to breakfast and dinner. It’s wildly good, so easy to make, and costs just $3 at Walmart. Catch me keeping this savory mix on hand all the time from now on.

My Honest Review of bettergoods’ Southern-Style Savory Peppered Drop Biscuit Mix
The minute I dumped the mix into my mixing bowl, I knew these biscuits were going to be amazing. The mix smelled so fragrantly peppery, I couldn’t bake the biscuits fast enough. When they came out of the oven, they were nice and golden brown on the edges. They were everything I wanted them to be and more: crisp on the outside, fluffy in the middle, with a big black pepper flavor that reminded me of my favorite white gravy. These truly taste like if biscuits and gravy got mashed up into one handheld baked good.
While I loved eating them straight up — no butter or anything — I can totally see these being incredible alongside fried chicken or sliced open to make breakfast sandwiches. I would even whip them up for an impromptu dinner party. I’m genuinely so impressed by these biscuits. Remind me why I ever made biscuits from scratch?
