Between The Devil Wears Prada 2, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, and The Drama, there were plenty of splashy Hollywood premieres this week that, indeed, brought the fashion drama.
A-listers such as Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, and Anya Taylor-Joy all brought their best (and boldest) statement looks to the step and repeat—however, that’s not to say that the more pared-back designs didn’t also shine. In fact, quite the contrary. Both the avant-garde and the reserved turned heads.
On the minimalist end of the style spectrum, quietly-elegant looks included Sadie Sink’s custom pleated Prada gown, complete with a squared neckline. (It was a fitting garment to wear to a Romeo & Juliet-themed affair—romantic, and slightly Shakespearean.) Olivia Munn also embraced timeless cream in her fringed Fforme gown, worn for her Your Friends & Neighbors premiere, while Carey Mulligan chose a sleek The Row suit while receiving her CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) in Windsor.
For those who lean more maximalist, there was plenty to delight in there as well. Anya Taylor-Joy wore a sculptural floral Dior gown, the strapless frock complete with a spherical hemline. Zendaya also shut down the red carpet in her blue and black feathered Schiaparelli couture gown—her “Something Blue,” for her wedding-themed press tour for The Drama. Both stars are known to take risks on the red carpet, and this week’s offerings clearly did not dissapoint.
