What You Should Know About Weetabix Whole Grain Cereal
Weetabix is a popular U.K. cereal that dates back to 1932. The classic cereal is a little different from the ones I’m used to picking up from the grocery store because it’s packaged in individual biscuits.
You simply add however many you want to a bowl with some milk, let them soak for a second, and then break them apart with your spoon and eat it like any other cereal.
It’s become so wildly popular stateside; more than 30,000 boxes have been bought from Amazon in the past month alone. And honestly? It’s well worth the hype.
My Honest Review of Weetabix Whole Grain Cereal
I have tried eating this cereal three different ways. My go-to is to add maple syrup and chia seeds to my bowl. The cereal itself isn’t all that sweet — its flavor is toasty and wheaty, similar to Honey Bunches of Oats — so I almost always add a sweet component to it.
I’ve also tried mashing up a ripe banana, mixing it with the cereal and milk, and adding maple syrup, walnuts, and cinnamon for a take on the banana nut muffin. This is incredible and feels so cozy when the desire for my favorite muffin hits (but I don’t feel like baking).
The third way is more like a cookie than cereal, inspired by Courtney Cook Bales. She took a Weetabix biscuit and dipped it in melted chocolate, then let it harden before dipping it into a glass of milk. Ingenious! I dipped mine in dark chocolate, remembering to coat one flat side and get a little up the shorter sides like she did. I made one for myself and one for my husband, who likened it to a less-sweet Crunch bar.
My favorite way to eat it is still that first way, with the maple syrup and chia seeds in a bowl of milk for breakfast. But part of the fun of Weetabix is getting to experiment. I’m already dreaming up ideas for the banana and chocolate Weetabix flavors on Amazon.
