The news: PVH announces a collaboration with OpenAI across its Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger brands.
Why it matters: It’s now taken as a given that every fashion company is using AI behind the scenes. But PVH has chosen to make a moment of its collaboration with ChatGPT maker OpenAI on the co-creation of custom AI models, to help streamline the former’s internal operations. AI capabilities will span product and design, demand planning, inventory optimization, and consumer engagement across its Tommy Hilfiger and Calvin Klein brands, while integrating OpenAI’s enterprise software to streamline workflows across its marketing, supply chain, and retail functions.
PVH CEO Stefan Larsson said the group is taking a “test-and-learn approach” to the collaboration on AI, and that it will “supercharge” the group’s ambition for Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger to “connect more meaningfully” with their customers. The group’s decision to announce this collaboration signals just how strategically important it is for PVH to be viewed as both tech-forward and AI-enabled.
The news: Meta and Microsoft hike AI spending plans even more.
Why it matters: Big Tech companies reported their fourth-quarter earnings this week, and huge AI spending plans was the common thread. Despite investors warming to Meta’s plans, they were spooked by Microsoft’s. Meta shares rose 8% in pre-market trading on Thursday, after the company announced its capital expenditures could nearly double to $135 billion in 2026, as part of its aggressive AI spending push. Meanwhile, Microsoft’s reported 66% surge in data center spending and capital expenditure of $37.5 billion in Q4 2025 sent its market value falling as much as $360 billion.
These AI spending totals are unprecedented, and signal just how bullish tech companies are on the promise of the rapidly developing tech. Market reactions signal that investors still don’t know where they stand — and have reignited talks of the AI bubble bursting. (Here’s a recap of what the burst would mean for fashion.)

The news: Amazon launches AI health assistant for its One Medical members.
Why it matters: Amazon has followed hot on the heels of OpenAI with the launch of its AI health assistant. Where OpenAI’s ChatGPT Health — a chatbot “not intended for diagnosis or treatment”, or to replace medical care — is open to all users, Amazon’s new product is available exclusively to members of its primary care chain, One Medical.
Amazon is pitching its AI health assistant as 24-7 access to personalized guidance that “goes beyond what typical AI chatbots offer”, including analyzing symptoms and images, explaining test results, reviewing medical history, booking appointments, managing prescriptions, and most controversially “providing mental health support in partnership with a behavioral health team”, a spokesperson said. “The key difference is that it is backed by actual clinicians who review complex situations, and it is integrated with patients’ existing care.”
The news: Apple is reportedly developing an AI-powered wearable pin.
Why it matters: Industry rumors around Apple’s anticipated push into AI-powered smart glasses have been circulating for months. But new reports from The Information suggest that Apple is also working on an AI-powered wearable pin, around the size of an AirTag, which houses multiple cameras, a speaker and microphones, according to the publication’s sources.
