Following an offseason of rumors, the Milwaukee Brewers have finally pulled the trigger on a trade of ace Freddy Peralta.
The haul that they’re bringing back in the Jan. 21 transaction – infielder Jett Williams and right-hander Brandon Sproat, ranked by Baseball America as the Mets’ Nos. 4 and 5 prospects – squares with what the Brewers typically are interested in when making such deals.

Namely, high-ceiling, controllable talent that’s either already reached the major leagues or is fairly close to doing so.
“Jett and Brandon are two of the top up-and-coming talents in baseball,” said Brewers president of baseball operations Matt Arnold, who also sent right-hander Tobias Myers to the Mets to complete the deal. “We are adding both a dynamic athlete and exciting arm to the organization that we see impacting the major league team for years to come.
“Both these guys are going to compete for spots on our team for opening day.”
Here is a closer look at Williams and Sproat.

Defensively, Williams can play shortstop (581 innings in 2025), second base (240) and center field (210) – exactly the type of versatility that Milwaukee covets.

“I think that his versatility is something that’s going to fit very, very well for this team.”
