Across The Drama press tour, Zendaya and her team have played with all the bridal tropes and traditions—from her “something old” 2015 Oscars dress rewear, to the “something borrowed” gown via Cate Blanchett, and her “something blue” Schiaparelli couture gown. The alleged real-life newlywed has also had a bit of a glam glow-up.
Stepping out last night for The Drama premiere after-party, her final beauty look reveled in the looser, more free-spirited vibes that come out later, post-nuptials and receptions. Zendaya wore a metallic blue shadow, deeper in the middle an elongating into a smoked out cats eye. She was contoured with a warm coral and a silver highlight traveled up to her temple with an almost wet-look effect. The lip was a glossy, juice nude pink. The actor’s bixie cut also had a wet effect, slicked back from her face and pushed over one side. The glam complimented her slinky and sheer midnight blue Di Petsa gown: an example of naked dressing tempered with a strong beauty look.

More and more, brides are having not one, but two, or even three changes on their wedding day. Alongside shortening their hemlines and slipping into more sensual, dance floor-ready looks, brides are slicking on red lips, flashes of fun blush and shadows, and even chopping their hair mid-festivities.
A blue eyeshadow, though, has become the eye makeup look du jour, as part of a bigger trading in of minimalism for expressive maximalism. From Fara Homidi’s washed azure in the Essential Eye Compact to a light-wash, pearlescent denim in Clé de Peau Beauté’s palette, and Victoria Beckham Beauty’s pale blue hued eyeshadow stick: the shades come diffused and experimental.
The actor’s go-to glam team—Ernesto Casillas for makeup, and hairstylist Ursula Stephen—have found their bridal glam groove with Zendaya: a glowy base with pops of color and highlight on her high points, more of a lash than she previously would have sported, a touch of gloss. Her cropped bixie cut has been parted to the side for a sleek flourish of volume. Last night’s fun and free-spirited finale face upped the “something blue” ante and left it all on the dance floor.
With Dune Part 3, The Odyssey, and Spider-Man press tours to come later this year, it will be interesting to see what Zendaya, Law Roach, and the beauty squad have in store for method dressing and method glamming.
