If I had to guesstimate how many times I have watched The Devil Wears Prada, I would go with 24. It is my go-to plane watch and always puts me at ease — even though Andy Sachs finds herself in countless stressful situations. I love knowing that my fellow journalist will eventually find her way in the big city and learn so much about herself in the process — a dream I hope to achieve.
The past few weeks leading up to the release of The Devil Wears Prada 2 (coming out this Friday, May 1!) have taught me that I really am not alone in my anticipation for this film. Beyond the conversations I’ve had with friends about the sequel, I’ve also noticed that countless brands are sharing in the excitement. Here are six of my favorite collabs that I’ve seen in the food and beverage industry.
And before you start wondering why you should care, don’t make me channel my inner Miranda Priestly, “This … ‘stuff’? Oh, okay. I see. You think this has nothing to do with you.”
M&M’S All Cerulean Pack
This all-cerulean M&M’s pack just dropped this morning, and you can actually get some delicious chocolaty treats for free starting Friday on M&M’s website. While they taste exactly like the classic candy, they are instantly set apart by the “cerulean” labeling on one side. This collab wasn’t just fished from a clearance bin like Andy’s sweater that inspired this collab, but was indeed selected for the fans of this franchise by the people in the M&M’s room. Get it?
Starbucks’ “The Devil Wears Prada 2” Secret Menu
Starbucks released a “secret” menu with drink orders corresponding to our favorite characters. The “Miranda” is a no-foam, extra-shot, extra-hot caffè latte with nonfat milk, which Starbucks describes as “because anything less would prompt … questions.” Andy’s is an oat milk cappuccino with caramel and cinnamon, which captures her undeniable sweetness and kindness throughout the film. Nigel’s order is doppio espresso con panna with mocha sauce, which is as sassy as he is. Finally, Emily is an iced chai latte with almond milk and sugar-free caramel, because she is, after all, fabulous.
The beverages are available for a limited time in participating Starbucks locations around the world. Time for a coffee run!
A Chance to Win with Diet Coke
Until May 24, you have a chance to win movie tickets, merch, and even a trip to New York City by buying a Diet Coke. All you have to do is buy the drink, keep your receipt, and scan it on their website to win points. With these points, you enter to win a trip to New York or redeem one of the instant wins (like cinema tickets or merch). A Diet Coke is already such an ingrained part of so many people’s routines, so why not just keep your receipt after your next afternoon pick-me-up?
Grey Goose’s Inspired Cocktail Collection
If I were Andy Sachs in the first The Devil Wears Prada, I know I would need a strong cocktail after working under Miranda Priestly. That need to unwind or even let loose after a hard workweek is exactly the energy Grey Goose is harnessing with its recent cocktail collection. Replicate Miranda’s boss energy with a “That’s All” Martini, or propose florals for spring with a “Groundbreaking Spring Spritz.”
Other cocktails in the collection include “The Scarlet Step,” “The Cerulean Goose,” and “The Devil’s Roast.” Looks like we all need to stock up on a bottle of Grey Goose before Friday so we can really set the mood. Personally, I can’t wait to make the “Groundbreaking Spring Spritz” with elderflower liqueur, rosé, lemon, and berry-flavored vodka.
Another Coca-Cola brand, Smart Water, launched a campaign testing fans’ knowledge of what cerulean blue actually looks like. It’s “not just blue, it’s not turquoise, it’s not lapis, it’s actually cerulean.” If you can spot cerulean on Smartwater’s website, then you can enter for a chance to win tickets to see the sequel in theaters or a gift box. If you were wondering how long it took me to spot the shade, I completed the challenge in under 22 seconds. Apparently, I have “what it takes to be editor-in-chief.”
Hyatt Regency Times Square-Inspired Menu Item
While it’s not the King Cole bar that Andy may have met Christian Thompson in to pick up the Harry Potter manuscript, it is still an enchanting New York City establishment. The Hyatt Regency Times Square’s CUE 48 is serving up its spin on the iconic grilled cheese Nate made for Andy one night after work.
The image of that crunchy grilled cheese has stayed in my mind for years — especially because Nate boasted over the amount of Jarlsberg cheese in it. At CUE 48, you can try Andy’s Grilled Cheese for $16 and even add tomato soup for $5.
While I continue to count down the days until Friday, when I can finally watch the sequel to this beloved movie, I might have to try a few of these exciting collaborations out myself.
